How To Work With Hekate 2024

Hekate is a complex and multifaceted deity found in ancient Greek mythology. Her name may be derived from the Greek word “hekatos,” meaning “far off,” suggesting her association with the distant, unknown, and liminal. Hekate is often depicted as a triple-formed goddess, with three heads or three bodies, representing the three realms of earth sea and sky.

As a goddess of crossroads and transitions, Hekate is associated with the threshold between life and death, and is sometimes referred to as the “Queen of the Dead.” She is also connected to the underworld and the ghosts that inhabit it, and is often depicted with a torch or a key, symbolizing her role as a guide and protector in the afterlife.

Hekate is also associated with magic and sorcery, and is often depicted with a wand or a staff. She is thought to be a patroness of sorcerers and witches, and was often invoked in spells charms and incantations book. In some myths, she is described as a teacher of magic, passing on her knowledge and powers to her followers.

In addition to her associations with the underworld and magic, Hekate is also a goddess of childbirth and fertility. She is often depicted with attributes of a pair of keys, symbolizing her role in facilitating the passage of new life into the world. Hekate assisted Demeter in her search for Persephone, guiding her through the night with flaming torches. After the mother-daughter reunion become she Persephone’s minister and companion in Haides.

Hekate is also closely connected to the natural world, and is often associated with wild animals, especially dogs. In some myths, she is depicted as a huntress, accompanied by a pack of hounds or wolves. She is also associated with the moon, and is sometimes depicted with a crown of stars or a crescent moon on her head.

Despite her many positive associations, Hekate was also sometimes depicted as a terrifying and malevolent figure. No matter what you read and what myths say. They can be true, but from personal experience, Hekate is not a monster or a demon. She is much bigger than that. She is understanding, helpful, and what she cares about is for you to go beyond. What does that mean exactly? Well, think of her as a Goddess that wants to teach you magic, how to defend yourself, how to manifest what you want, how to not rely on others but yourself. You borrow the power from her and walk along her side. Great right? Well it is if you put the work in. Real. Daily work.

Overall, Hekate is a complex and multifaceted deity, with a wide range of associations and attributes. She is a goddess of transitions, magic, fertility, and the natural world, and is often depicted as a protector and guide in the underworld. Despite her sometimes terrifying reputation, she is also revered as a powerful and benevolent force in the lives of her followers. Trust me, I know.

Now that we went over who she is. I just want to stress that working with Hekate is an interestingly different experience I’ve personally never experienced before.

Its not easy, its not difficult. It just depends how far your willing to go and whether you want to work with a system that operates as a machine. Literally. You become this machine and it gets better, faster, and works in a ways you can’t imagine.
